Samiha, are you talking about exfoliating acids, like salicylic and glycolic? Don’t combine them. Pick one and stick to it.

Great article. Can you advise me on what acids can be used together and which ones need to be used at different times? I have heard that some acids should not be combined. I would love to use all the products mentioned above but just need some directions.

Karen, if you’re using Differin, I don’t recommend using another form of retinoids like retinol. You can use an exfoliant with Ahas a couple of nights a week after cleansing. CeraVe has some great moisturisers with niacinamide. As for antioxidants, try one of Paula’s Choice antioxidant serums after cleansing/exfoliation.

Love your articles. I have been a true believer in skin care, not make up. I am 61 years old and pass for 42. I eat healthy, exercise and take great care of my skin. Until recently, my skin looked great. I am thinking I may need to change up a bit to maybe something stronger. I see that you promote Paula’s Choice quite a bit in your choices. I was thinking instead of using Differin at night, trying a retinol such as Paula’s Choice 1%. I tend to break out when I try new products, so I end up going back to my scrub, soap and Differin at night. How would I incorporate AHA’s, Retinol, Antioxidants, and Niacinamides into my routine? I do use sunscreen/moisturizer. Any input from you would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you for your articles, I look so forward to many more.

Cynthia, are you using anything else before moisturiser? It seems like your skin’s protective barrier is severely damaged. Try a gentle moisturiser like Cerave PM Moisturiser.

I don’t know if that’s the lotion repairing my skin ? I just need a good moisturizer but everyone I find and want to settle with something is wrong with it :((( PLEASE HELP
