Remember when we talked about Ecooking last month?
A little recap: it’s a Danish natural skincare line Tina Søgaard “literally” cooked up in her kitchen when she couldn’t find products to fix her dull and grey skin.
I’ve been playing around with the Ecooking Starter Kit With Cleansing Milk for a while and have shared my thoughts on 5 of the products in the set (Day Cream, Firming Serum, Vitamin A Serum, Cleansing Milk and Multi Oil) in a previous post.
Now, it’s the turn of the remaining 4 products in the set. How do they fare?
Ecooking Night Cream
Ecooking Night Cream is THICK. Like really, really, really thick. It’s the kind of texture you get when you play around with raw, natural ingredients in the kitchen.
That’s good if you’re into natural skincare. Not so good if you have oily skin and can’t stand skincare that takes ages to absorb. Only on dry skin this stuff sinks in *fairly* quickly.
But oh my, is it moisturising! It’s a mixture of coconut fatty acids, shea butter and moisturising fatty alcohols (yes, some types of alcohol CAN be moisturizing!) that gives skin extra hydration, slows down water loss and keeps it soft and supple all night long… and well beyond that!
Plus, the cream contains a high concentration (one of the highest I’ve seen in skincare products – it’s the 3rd ingredient in the list) of argireline.
Rumour has it, this peptide sort of works like Botox. It prevents facial muscles from contracting with full force, relaxing them so that wrinkles can’t form as easily. Those you have look less deep.
Is the rumour true? Mmm… A 2002 study found that 10% Argireline does help reduce wrinkles. But it works better on thin skin.
Argireline has problems penetrating skin enough to work so most people won’t really see much of a difference. Bummer, I know.
One more thing: this night cream has a subtle herbal scent. It’s pleasant and doesn’t linger long.

Ecooking Multi Balm
You know your skin is in serious trouble when you need to take out Ecooking Multi-Balm. A mixture of oils, butters and waxes, it has a thick, slightly sticky texture that can deal with all the worst skincare problems.
Cracked, bleeding lips? Check.
Rough heels and elbows? Check.
Painful itching from bites and burns? Check.
Another eczema flareup? Check.
Shea butter, castor oil, sweet almond oil & co work together to create a protective barrier on the skin that keeps it safe from cold weather, sun exposure, germs and pollutants.
In other words, they protect skin against the elements and give it time to heal. At the same time, they give skin the extra moisture it needs to nurse it back to its natural softness and suppleness.
I can’t say I used it too often so far – touch wood my skin didn’t need it. I used it mainly as a lip balm and I have to say, the taste isn’t that pleasant. But when your lips are cracked, this baby gets the job done.
Same for your elbow ad heels. I gave it to my mom to try – she has really dry, rough patches of skin there – and in a few days, its softened everything up.
This multi-balm isn’t something I’d want to use every day. But in an emergency, it’s tough to beat.

Ecooking Facial Mist
If you ask me (and I guess you are), if you need a toner/essence/mist to remove the last few traces of makeup, you need a better cleanser.
But if you don’t want to switch cleanser, Ecooking Facial Mist does the job just fine. Slightly foaming, it removes the little makeup left behind by the Wet Wipes (more on that below) quickly and gently, leaving skin clean and soft.
But cleansing isn’t the only trick Ecooking Facial Mist has up its sleeve. It also gives skin a hydrating boost and has soothing extracts to calm down irritations.
The lightweight texture absorbs in seconds, so you can freely spray it on in the middle of the day – or whenever your skin needs a hydrating boost – without ruining your makeup.
Keep in mind, this mist has fragrance so if you have super sensitive skin, it could cause problems for you. For me, it didn’t. Plus, it’s subtle and fades away quickly.

Ecooking Wet Wipes
I admit it: I’m not a huge fan of cleansing wipes. They don’t clean that well so you’re forced to use two or three to wipe everything off. You guessed it, that leads to irritations.
I’d love to say that Ecooking Wet Wipes are different. Truth is, they still struggled to get my makeup off. Just a wipe wasn’t enough to do the job – and I don’t wear heavy makeup a la Kardashians.
I suspect it was the friction that removed the makeup anyway. If the ingredient list on the website is correct, there are no surfactants here to do the cleansing job.
Instead, the addition of Aloe Vera makes them a refreshing treat for the skin. It won’t give you a lot of extra moisture, but on a hot summer day, these are a pleasure to use.
