hempz pomegranate body range review

Is anyone else having a pink moment?

Maybe it’s the spring in the air bringing my feminine side out to play but I can’t have enough of pink right now. It’s everywhere in my wardrobe. In my makeup bag. And now in my shower, too.

Hempz Pomegranate range is dressed in a beautiful pink packaging that makes my heart flutter every time I look at it. What can I say? Everything is better in pink. 🙂

But I wouldn’t buy skincare just because it’s pink (that’s just a bonus). It must also do the job well, ya know. Does this range do it?

I’ve put the Pomegranate Herbal Body Wash, Sugar Scrub and Body Moisturizer to the test. Here are the results:

Hempz Pomegranate Moisturizing Herbal Body Wash

Forget about the herbal in the name. All those natural goodies just end up down the drain when you rinse off.

What matters is the cleansing agents. And Hempz Pomegranate Moisturising Herbal Body Wash has all the right ones. It uses a mix of gentle surfactants like Cocamidopropyl Betaine and Disodium Laureate Sulfoccinate to remove every trace of sweat, dirt and grime without drying out skin.

My skin is very dry as it is, so I’m very careful what I use to shower with. I’m loving this because it leaves my skin soft and not tight at all.

It’s not the foamiest body wash, but that’s cool. Usually the more foam’s in your shower, the more drying the body wash. So this is a good trade off, if you ask me.

Plus, it smells lovely. Think pomegranate with a hint of citrus. It’s a great way to start the day. 🙂

hempz pomegranate herbal sugar scrub

Hempz Pomegranate Sugar Body Scrub

I’ve given up facial scrubs a long time ago but I still use body scrub on… well, mt body. The skin there’s more resistant so I think it can better take it.

Even so, I tend to favour sugar over fruit particles like apricot because it’s gentler on my dry skin. That’s just what Hempz Pomegranate Sugar Body Scrub uses.

Don’t get me wrong. If you use too much product or scrub a little too long, it can still irritate your skin. But that’s hardly its fault. Just be careful.

I use a small amount on my wet skin and massage it in circular motions for a couple of minutes. It feels a bit gritty, as you would expect, but not harsh on the skin. Once I’m done, my skin feels so soft to the touch. It’s like baby skin.

Hempz says you can also use it with a mitt or puff for a more intense exfoliation but I haven’t tried that. I’m not sure my dry skin would like it (in case you haven’t got the message, when it comes to exfoliation I tend to err on the side of caution. 🙂 )

But, this time I’m not too fond of the scent. It’s similar to the body wash but way sweeter. Think pomegranate dusted with sugar. Nice but not for me. I’m more of a woody than sugary girl in this area. 🙂

Hempz Pomegranate Herbal Body Moisturizer

Remember when I said all those natural goodies count for nothing in a body wash? Well, they count – and A LOT – in a moisturiser. Luckily, Hempz Herbal Pomegranate Herbal Body Moisturizer has its fair share of them too.

You’ll find vitamins A & C and ginseng extract to fight the free radicals that cause wrinkles and chamomile and cucumber to soothe skin.

Plus, glycerin to attract moisture from the air into the skin and Shea butter to lock it firmly in. Together, they keep my skin soft and moisturized for well over 8 hours. Not the entire day, I know, but good enough.

I guess that’s something to do with the texture. It’s very lightweight and absorbs fast while my dry skin usually prefers something way more richer. Oh well, it’s still a pretty good lotion for not so dry skin.

Plus, it’s pink! (Sorry, I had to 😳 )

I’m on the fence about the fragrance. Again, same notes as the other two products. Not as sweet as the sugar scrub (thankfully!) but still too sweet for me.

But this is just personal preference. I know lots of women who would love something like this. But for me, it’s a miss. 😉
