roger & gallet gingembre rouge sorbet body lotion

I rarely use body lotions.

No, I’m not a slob who never showers and moisturises. I don’t use body lotions because they’re not moisturising enough for my Sahara-dry skin. It’s only happy when I feed it rich body butters.

But Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Sorbet Body Lotion was too cute to resist (I’m a sucker for anything pink). Is it the exception to the rule?

What’s In Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Sorbet Body Lotion?

GLYCERIN TO HYDRATE SKIN

I’m not surprised to see glycerin here. This baby is pretty much in all your skincare products. For a reason.

It’s a humectant that draws water from the environment into the skin. The more moisture your skin has, the better it looks. Moisture plumps up skin, makes fine lines and wrinkles look smaller, and even gives the complexion a dewy glow.

It’s the perfect base for every skincare product.

ISOPROPYL PALMITATE TO SOFTEN SKIN

I’m mentioning this for all of you who have acne-prone skin.

Isopropyl Palmitate is a cheap emollient that makes skin softer and smoother. For most skin types, it’s totally ok. But if you’re prone to acne, all hell can break loose.

Every time I use a moisturiser with Isopropyl Palmitate on my oily t-zone, I never fail to get a pimple (or 5!). But when I slather it on my dry body skin, nothing bad happens.

It’s all about knowing your skin type and what it can take.

Texture

The lightweight, almost whipped texture spreads easily on the skin and absorbs in seconds.

Fragrance

Fruity and sweety. The zesty ginger note adds a spicy touch to the composition, preventing it from smelling too teeny bopper.

Personally, I’m not a fan of sweet fruity scents or anything ginger, so this is NOT for me. But if you’re my fragrance opposite, you’re in for a treat.

How To Use It

Apply all over your body after a shower, or whenever you need the extra moisture.

Performance & Personal Opinion

Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Sorbet Body Lotion and I didn’t get off on a good start. Anything that smells too fruity and sweet is a no-no for me. I’m in my 30s and I don’t want to smell like I’ve just left a candy store, know what I mean?

Ok, this one isn’t that bad, but it’s still not my cup of tea. But it’s its moisturising powers that matter most. How good are they?

I admit I underestimated them. Its texture is so lightweight, I doubted it had what it takes to moisturise my uber-parched skin. I was sure I’d have to reapply it after just 3 or 4 hours, but nope.

The lotion keeps my skin soft and smooth for almost the entire day. Sure, it’s not as moisturising as a body butter, but for the warmer months, it’s enough.

  • Acne-prone skin

A feminine pink bottle with a pump applicator. Beautiful and practical.

Does Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Sorbet Body Lotion Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
This luxuriously hydrating formula melts into the skin to intensely moisturise, refresh and soften. True.
Enriched with Aloe Vera, Pomegranate Oil and Beautifying Micro-Pearls, skin is left luminous and energised. It may be enriched with all this stuff, but there’s very little of them here and they won’t do much.

Do You Need It?

It’s not a must. But if you dig sweet, fruity scents with a pinch of ginger, it makes for a nice pampering treat.
