the best youth to the people skincare products

What are the best Youth To The People skincare products?

At first glance, everything looks amazing. Every product is like a superfood for your skin. Literally.

Youth To The People harnesses the power of kale, kombucha and other trendy superfoods to fight wrinkles, fade away dark spots, and give you the younger-looking skin you crave.

But when you start to dig deeper, some products benefit your skin more than others. How to find them? I’ve done the work for you.

Here are the best Youth To The People skincare products:

WARNING! Antioxidants go bad faster when exposed to sunlight. Unfortunately, pretty much all Youth To The People products are packaged in clear bottles and jars. To make them last longer, store them somewhere dark, away from direct sunlight.

Best Cleanser: Youth To The People Kale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser ($36.00)

Youth To The People Kale + Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Superfood Cleanser is chockfull of antioxidants. But don’t let that fool you. Antioxidants don’t do much for you when you rinse them off down the drain. How did this cleanser make this list, then? Easy: this thick, slightly foamy gel cleanser does a wonderful job at removing every last trace of makeup, dirt, and grime without irritating skin. It’s more suitable for oily, non-sensitive skin.

Available at: Free People, Nordstrom, and Sephora

Best For Antiaging: Youth To The People Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist ($42.00)

Youth To The People Adaptogen Soothe + Hydrate Activated Mist is a super-lightweight, slightly hydrating lotion anyone can use. Spray it on freshly cleansed skin, pat it in and let it dry before continuing with the rest of your skincare routine. What does it do? The marketing spiel is that it contains adaptogenic ingredients – like reishi mushroom and ashwagandha herb – that can change themselves to adapt to the environment. May be true in nature, but they sure can’t adapt to your skin. What they really do is help you fight premature aging. These, and the other natural extracts in the mist, have antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that can fight free radicals and inflammation, two of the main causes of wrinkles.

P.S. Antioxidants lose their effectiveness when exposed to light. Unfortunately, the see-through packaging makes them vulnerable. Store it somewhere dark and make sure it doesn’t get too much light when you take it out.

Best Exfoliant: Youth To The People Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner ($38.00)

Don’t let its yellow colour put you off. Youth To The People Kombucha + 11% AHA Exfoliation Power Toner leaves no tint or greasy residue on your skin. The combination of lactic and glycolic acid exfoliates skin, making your complexion softer, smoother, and brighter (but can’t do much for large pores and breakouts). Plus, these two acids have hydrating properties that keep skin soft and supple. Did I mention it contains its fair share of antioxidants, too? Black tea & co fight off free radicals before they can give you wrinkles. The only drawback is the see-through packaging. Again, store it away from direct sunlight.

Best For Dry Skin: Youth To The People Maqui + Acai Prickly Pear Goji Superberry Hydrate And Glow Oil ($44.00)

Youth To The People Maqui + Acai Prickly Pear Goji Superberry Hydrate And Glow Oil is loaded with natural oils that have both moisturising and antioxidant properties. Sunflower, Jojoba, Rosehip oils & co create a protective barrier on the skin that helps moisture stay in, right where it needs to be to hydrate skin and keep it soft and supple. Plus, they’re loaded with antioxidants that can fight the free radicals that cause premature aging. Despite this, the texture isn’t overly oil. It absorbs quickly without leaving a greasy residue behind. Just store it somewhere dark so the light won’t compromise the antioxidants.

Best For Brightening: Youth To The People Superfood Firm And Brighten Serum ($62.00)

Youth To The People Superfood Firm And Brighten Serum uses a mix of exfoliating acids (lactic, citric, and malic) and Vitamin C derivatives (Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate) to brighten the complexion. If your skin is dull or some dark spots have just started to make an appearance, the serum may well be all you need to even out the skin tone and give it a lovely glow. Like all Youth To The People products, it also has antioxidants that can slow down premature aging. I like the serum comes in a glass bottle, but I wish it weren’t so see-through. I know I’m starting to sound like a broken record, but store it away from direct sunlight!
