nimue day review

Nimue Day is a day moisturiser. Yet, the brand recommends you avoid sun exposure when you use it.

Is it only me who thinks it’s weird? I mean… shouldn’t it be called Nimue Night if you can’t wear it when the sun is out?

Turns out, you can wear it both day and night. Here’s why:

What’s In Nimue Day?

SWEET ALMOND OIL TO MOISTURISE SKIN

Sweet almond oil is popular in skincare for a reason: it dries quickly. It has a lightweight texture that sinks fast into the skin without leaving a greasy residue behind.

Plus, it’s super moisturising. It creates a barrier on the skin that traps moisture in, helping skin stay soft and hydrated for hours.

GLYCOLIC ACID TO EXFOLIATE SKIN (OR NOT?)

Glycolic acid is a popular exfoliant. It’s also the smallest member of the Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) family.

AHAs exfoliate and hydrate skin at the same time. They dissolve the glue that holds skin cells together so they can slough off and attract moisture from the air into the skin.

Because of its small size, Glycolic Acid does the job better than others AHAs. But it’s also more irritating, especially when used every single night.

Should you worry? In this case, not too much. There’s not enough Glycolic Acid in this moisturiser to seriously exfoliate skin. Bummer!

P.S. I’m surprised Nimue put Glycolic Acid in a day cream. Exfoliation makes skin more prone to sun damage, so it makes more sense to use it at night. Guess that’s a hint its exfoliating power is weak.

Texture

Creamy and not that rich, so it sinks quickly into the skin. There’s no greasy residue afterwards.

Fragrance

It’s fragrance-free.

How To Use It

In the AM, in between serum and moisturiser. Or you could use it at night, as the last step of your skincare routine. Your choice.

Performance & Personal Opinion

I’m a bit disappointed by Nimue Day. Most of the antioxidants and exfoliating acids are far from the top of the list, so they won’t do much. *sighs*

Instead, what Nimue Day really does, and does very well, is hydrate skin. And, as I never tire of repeating these days, hydration really is the key to flawless skin.

Hydration plumps up skin so that fine lines and wrinkles look smaller. It makes skin super soft to the touch. And, it gives it a healthy glow. All things this moisturizer did really well.

I just wish it did a bit more. What can I say? I’m spoiled.

Before I forget, this didn’t break me out. Phew!

Who Is This For?

Most skin types can use it, but it’s more suitable for dry skin.

Who Is This NOT For?

Because of the oil content, I wouldn’t recommend it to oily, acne-prone skin.

Packaging

A white jar. It’s sleek, but it won’t keep the antioxidants inside stable and effective for long. Close that lid quickly after every use!

P.S. It comes with a spatula. Hygiene first!

Does Nimue Day Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIM TRUE?
A multi-functional, light-textured Day moisturiser that assists to restore and rejuvenate the skin, resulting in improved hydration and smoother skin texture. True.
Use AM after Nimue Cleanser and Conditioner.                                                   Massage into clean, dry skin on the face and neck. Follow with Nimue SPF and Nimue Treatment Foundation. Avoid sun exposure. First off, you can use it with any products. Plus, why create a day cream if you need to avoid sun exposure when you use it? Just call it night cream and be done with it.
