calcot manor dry body oil review

When Calcot Manor Dry Body Oil Spray landed on my desk, my first thought was, “OMG, this stuff smells amazing!”.

My second thought? “There’s no way this oil can hydrate my dry skin. Absolutely no way.” As far as oils go, Calcot Manor Dry Body Oil Spray is quite lightweight. My skin is parched dry. Not exactly the best combination.

Luckily, I was proved wrong. Here’s why:

What’s In Calcot Manor Dry Body Oil?

MINERAL OIL

No, mineral oil is not dangerous. It certainly doesn’t cause cancer. And even though it’s derived from petroleum, all the toxic, bad stuff has been removed during the purification process.

Cosmetic grade mineral oil, the only kind used in skincare, is safe, effective, and a godsend for dry skin. It works by creating a protective barrier on the skin that slows down water loss.

The more moisture stays into your skin, the softer and smoother it gets.

SUNFLOWER OIL

Mineral oil may be the star of the show, but it doesn’t play alone. The other oil in this dry oil is sunflower oil.

Derived from sunflower seeds, this oil is rich in moisturising fatty acids, including Linoleic Acid (48-74%), Oleic Acid (14-40%), Palmitic Acid (4-9%) and Stearic Acid (1-7%).

What does it mean for your skin? Sunflower oil moisturizes skin, strengthens its protective barrier, and even reduces inflammations!

Texture

Lightweight, but leaves a slightly oily residue (it’s still an oil after all). It sinks in pretty quickly.

Fragrance

Citrusy fruits and patchouli intertwine to create a scent that’s both zesty and cozy, warm and relaxing. I can’t smell enough of it!

How To Use It

Massage it all over your body after a shower. Or whenever you feel like you need the extra moisture.

Performance & Personal Opinion

In winter, my skin is soooooo dry, only thick body butters like Haus Of Gloi Depravity Pumpkin Butter can keep it soft and smooth from morning till night. In summer, I can get away with something lighter, but never too light.

So, I hesitatingly sprayed this Dry Body Oil on after my morning shower, and massaged it all over my body. Rather than turning me into a greasy mess, it made my skin soft, smooth, and radiant.

But I totally expected its effects to disappear by lunch time. So, imagine my surprise when, as I was getting ready to go to bed, I could feel my legs (and the rest of my skin) still as soft and smooth as they were early in the morning! Ok, maybe a bit less soft, but they were still very moisturized.

Colour me impressed.
