Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt Apricot & Honey review

Every morning, I start off the day with a bowl of Greek yoghurt, berries and nuts sprinkled with coconut flakes.

It’s a delicious breakfast that gives me all the energy I need until lunchtime without reaching for a cookie (or two, or three – once I start, I can’t stop). Added bonus: it helps my digestion, too.

Lately, I’ve started slathering yoghurt all over my skin, too.

Ok, I’m not using the real thing. Aveeno has jumped on this healthy trend and put yoghurt powder in a new range of body moisturizers. Was it a good idea?

I’ve put Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt Apricot & Honey to the test to find out:

What’s In Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt Apricot & Honey?

YOGHURT POWDER TO EXFOLIATE SKIN?

When yoghurt is added to cosmetics, it’s usually in powder form. This powder is a source of lactic acid, an exfoliating acid that doubles up as a humectant.

In lay terms, lactic acid dissolves the glue that holds skin cells together, so they can slough off and reveal the brighter and smoother skin that was hiding underneath.

As a humectant, lactic acid attracts moisture from the environment into the skin, keeping it soft and hydrated. It’s so gentle, even sensitive skin can use it.

The catch? There isn’t a whole lot of yoghurt powder here. Don’t expect it to do much exfoliation…

AVENA SATIVA (OATS) TO SOOTHE SKIN

Oats are Aveeno’s thing.

In skincare products, they hide under the name of colloidal oatmeal. Colloidal oatmeal is a source of vitamins and enzymes with antioxidants and soothing properties. They alleviate the symptoms of psoriasis, eczema and irritations.

Plus, colloidal oatmeal is so gentle, even babies and ladies with the most sensitives of skin can use it to get some relief.

GLYCERIN TO HYDRATE SKIN

Let’s start with the basics. Glycerin is in pretty much ALL skincare products for a reason.

It’s a wonderful humectant: that’s a fancy way of saying it draws moisture from the air and locks it into your skin. Once there, this extra moisture softens, plumps, and brightens your skin.

That’s the base you want to build the rest of your skincare routine on.

PETROLATUM TO MOISTURISE SKIN

Petrolatum isn’t as bad as you think. Yes, it’s derived from petroleum. But it’s NOT petroleum. Before it’s put into the cream, it undergoes a strict purifying process to remove all toxins. So, no, it won’t give you cancer.

Instead, it creates a protective barrier on the skin that slows down water loss to keep your skin soft and hydrated for hours.

Texture

It’s not thin, but not thick either. Somewhere in between.

Fragrance

I’ll come right out and say it: I don’t like the scent. It’s lovely, sweet and all that. But, I don’t like the scent of apricots (yes, I’m a weirdo). Do you see the problem there?

How To Use It

Apply it all over your body as you get out of the shower.

Performance & Personal Opinion

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt Apricot & Honey is very rich and moisturizing, yet its texture is fairly lightweight and glides smoothly on my skin.

It does a great job at keeping my skin soft and moisturized for most of the day. I only have to reapply it in the evening, which is cool with me.

Again, keep it mind my skin is VERY dry. For any other skin type, its moisturizing effects will last much longer.

If your skin is itchy, this also helps soothe it a little, too.

Who Is This For?

Dry skin.

Who Is This NOT For?

Oily and/or acne-prone skin.

Packaging

It used to come in a jar, but now it’s housed in a yellow and green tube.

P.S. The formula inside hasn’t changed at all.

Does Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt Apricot & Honey Live Up To Its Claims?

CLAIMS TRUE?
The cream saturates your body with nourishing moisture and is clinically proven to moisturise normal to dry skin for up to 48 hours. It doesn’t moisturise my skin for 48 hours, but then mine is very dry. Everything else is true.
Its rich, creamy formula improves the skin’s natural balance for healthy looking and more resilient skin from 1st use. True. But you could argue that anything moisturising does this.
